Let Us Unite Fellow Filipinos!

This short blog will discuss today a word that is not in the vocabulary of all us, Filipinos that is why our country cannot move forward and remain divided and that is: UNITY. Our country have experienced deep divisions until now, which is being intensified due to social media and abuse on the Internet usage. Our past leaders failed to exercise determined political will to unify us and our country. That's why we cannot deal with the problems and challenges our country is facing. We still doing furthering the wounds of division on each other, on national, international and personal issues. We are doing this crab mentality wherein we want ourselves to be highest at the expense of others. We lack sense of common good, genuine concern to build a spirit of community and keen look at justice. As Former Senator Francisco Tatad once said, ours is a "crisis of our times."

Look at our neighbors, they are developed well politically and economically because their governments and their peoples are united. Why can't we, even if we have some disagreements on some national and international issues our  country is facing and on how to take them? You know, we can unite. Kaya naman natin eh. Should we experience a war or a catastrophe first before we unite as one nation? No. Even in peacetime, we can unite. We can unite if only we have determination, iron will and leaders that can and must facilitate it for us so that we can move forward at present in working towards the future of our nation, without forgetting our past so that we can learn from it in making a strong democratic institutions and a strong Filipino nation. There is still a chance for us, the Government and the people of the Phllippines to unite for its good and for our advancement. That is why I appeal to all of us to unite with each other now. Let us have this sense of sharing and deep love of country and patriotism and end our conflicts and divisiveness and appeal to our present leaders to guide us as well, without of course, sacrificing our disagreeements on some issues. We can agree to disagree for after all, ours is a young democracy that we have to mold firmly to make it mature, which is one of the ingredients in uniting our nation, even if gradually so that it can move smoothly.
