Responsible Blogger

In this blog for today, I will discuss how to be a responsible blogger. Responsible blogger means that you are always thinking of accountability in what you are saying in your blog. That you will exercise fairness and objectivity in commenting on national issues and international issues, without offending personalities, even if you are criticizing constructively their actions as some of them are working in Government and doing public service to the people. And a responsible blogger knows what are his or her limits. Nowadays, blogging has been abused, for the sake of power, perhaps money, political ambition, etc., by some with total impunity and recklessness at the expense of other bloggers, and of some people. So much callousness indeed that should be stopped by the way because it is bad for the country, and not being helpful all along. And that, what is saddening is that due to this, the blogging industry have been affected and many bloggers, who have a good standing reputation for years, were looked down also as bad blogger even if they don't deserve due to the wanton irresponsibility of those bloggers that do not apply ethical standards in all of their activities.

Here's how to be a responsible blogger.

First, research carefully about a national and international issue and assess its pros and cons, before saying your thoughts in your blog, same with other issues like in showbiz, fashion, etc;

Second, in composing your blog, make sure that you are using good language and exercise ethics in doing so on any issue like what I have said above;

Third, when you are criticizing a person's action on any matter, especially if that person is an official of the Government, make sure you will do so objectively, and without offending that person personally;

Fourth, if a person offended by your blog requests you to share his or her side on an issue you criticize him, then grant it and respond later;

Sixth, make sure you are blogging for the sake of the country, and not for money, political ambition, etc.;

Seventh, avoid using unnecessary language in blogging;

Eight, always remember, that in the end, you alone will be responsible for your blog;

Ninth, do blogging, not at the expense of maligning people with complete arrogance, which I have pointed out earlier;

Tenth, at the end of the day, in your blogging, please raise its standards to the highest level so that you will earn a respect from your fellow bloggers and most of all, from the Filipino people.

These are the points, you and I, a new blogger must conform daily in blogging so that we will be diligent, conscientious and honest in making our blogs as it should be to clear the air and to restore the status of blogging into its rightful place again. In commenting on politics, let us not be hyperpartisan, let us be a candid and impartial observer especially in economics, social issues, including love. That I cannot say on personal issues.  For focus, because being hyperpartisan is not good at all and it's awkward to be looked at. Lastly, a responsible blogger should be looked at as a good example,  not as a bad example.
